Nestled in a bustling city, 24 Hour Fitness' Portland McLoughlin Super Sport offers an intriguing yet somewhat disappointing blend of modern amenities and outdated elements. The sauna, while recently renovated to be visually appealing, struggles with a persistent odor that some describe as similar to dirty underwear. Despite this, the eucalyptus scent in the steam room provides a refreshing contrast. The locker room, unfortunately, is a letdown, with broken shower doors, green buildup around knobs, and exposed wires where once there were TVs. However, the addition of shower curtains, albeit poorly installed, does offer some privacy for members. Staff are generally friendly, as evidenced by positive feedback from members. Yet, the overall experience feels more like an abandoned school gym than a high-end fitness club. The facility is often crowded with punk kids after 3 PM, leading to unsanitary conditions, especially in the locker room and pool area. Despite its location's convenience, frequent equipment failures, such as the hot tub breaking for six months out of the year, pose significant challenges. The management seems unresponsive to complaints, making it difficult for members to appreciate the positive aspects fully.
